THE IX FOOTBALL CUP PLAY-OFF OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN

26 August 2000 - 17 June 2001

The clubs of the super league were allowed to participate in the competition as well as the clubs of the first league formed in 1994. Due to the rules of the IX Football Cup Play-off of the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the stage of the tournament, the teams played by the principle "The strongest against the weakest" (by results of the RK, 1999). Except the final, the teams played per two games for relegation. The winners played against each other according to the teams had taken the first four places in RK - 1999. It was done for "stronger" teams to play against each other at the semi-final and it worked. The weaker, by results of RK-1999, teams played at the first stage out of their home, except the cases they could deal. In case of draw, first was the rule of the team victory determination by the bigger number of goals scored at the home team's pitch. In other case of draw the extra times were set by 15 minutes, but, here, the victory was scored by the first goal. Furthermore, the winner was determined by penalties. The semi-finals and a final were now organized in spring-summer period of the next year. It was done for the RK Cup winner to have started playing in the Asian Cup for Cup winners exactly in the same season, i.e. not to play without any skilled players' losses. The final match was always organized in Astana or in Almaty.
